Travel Protection/Insurance, Passport & Visas

Please double check that you have travel protection/insurance (some countries may require proof of coverage) and valid documents (passport, visa, etc.) before leaving home, to avoid long delays, disappointment and possible refusal at the border. Vacations can be disrupted or have to be altered altogether if the valid documents cannot be supplied at points of entry, so please check very carefully that you have the required documents. See your tour itinerary and ask your local consulates or embassies for advice, as visa conditions are subject to change.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the completion of your tour.

Please note: EU law requires you to carry your passport at all times.

If your nationality (passport) differs from the country in which you reside, please take time to check especially carefully with your local consulates concerning visa and passport requirements for your travels.

Due to increased security, many countries have adopted practices to prevent international abductions of children. If a child will be traveling with grandparents or with only one parent, it is recommended that a notarized letter written by the parents or non-traveling parent granting authorization to travel, including the dates of travel be enclosed. We suggest that you also contact the appropriate consulate and airlines because they may have additional requirements.

Money

Local currency (Croatian KUNA, Bosnian MARKA and Serbian DINAR) is to be used by all clients on the tour. Cash may be obtained on arrival at exchange offices, banks or from ATMs. Traveler’s checks are not practical, and credit cards have limited use, although almost all shops will accept those. US Dollars bills, if used, should be in good condition (not stained or torn), and recently printed; as banks and exchange offices are very particular.

Major credit cards are accepted in some of the better outlets, but shops and restaurants generally require a minimum purchase amount when using them (so they are not appropriate for incidentals such as ice cream, snacks, etc.). You might consider bringing more than one card, as some outlets may not accept all types. Due to increasing credit card fraud worldwide, be prepared to show identification (i.e. your passport) when making a transaction with your credit card.

ATM cards: For the best available exchange rate, you will find ATM cards indispensable. We recommend you to be very careful when using an ATM, as elsewhere. Avoid making withdrawals at night or in the dark areas, always protect your PIN (personal identification number) from view, and always refuse any help from the so-called helpful strangers offering help. Lost or blocked card should be reported to your bank via its 24 - hour emergency number for immediate cancellation/replacement.
